Hawaii
Hello my name is Amanda and Evan, and this summer we went to Hawaii for our surfing trip and we came across Jaws. Jaws is a Hawaiian wave that happens only five times a year. Its made when a wave hits coral under the sea, which causes the bottom of the wave to slow down as the top continues its pace and it rises really high and arcs over the bottom. The lava from volcanoes has nutrients which helps the coral grow, therefore creates this massive wave. The main purpose of jaws and other waves is to attract surfers or tourist to come to the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Overall, earths water can create massive waves.

I never heard about Jaws before and it was interesting to read how it occurs 5 times a year and how it's caused by the bottom of a wave hitting coral causing energy. A significance would be that life lives in the coral, fed by lava from the volcano. Scuba divers and snorklers would come to Hawaii to see this and the big waves. I would like to go to Hawaii and see Jaws, but not go surfing in it! This is a big tourist attraction and helps Hawaii's economy.
The location I did was the Three Gorges Dam and a way our locations compare are that there are large amounts of water involved. Both of ours cause energy. A difference is that yours is in an ocean and mine is in a river.
