Warm Front- when fast moving warm air, comes into contact with slow moving cold air. it pushes the cold air forward which causes faster moving cold air ad soon a cloud is formed
Stationary Front- when cold air and warm air meet each other and there going the exact same speed and have no power over the other, it causes a stationary front
Occluded Front-when cold air meets another cold air thing the cold air with more speed pushes the other cold air with less speed and then a cloud forms

Atmosphere Factors Affecting Climate

Ozone

Ozone is a form or oxygen that has 3 oxygen atoms in each molecule, instead of usually 2.It is found in the stratosphere and it helps block out Ultra violet rays from the sun. Ozone is bad when it is in the troposphere. it is bad for our breathing plus when the ozone is in the troposphere its not blocking out UV rays which is very harmful for our skin. ozone is good when it is in the stratosphere because it blocks out the UV rays which are harmful to your skin. So as you can see, the ozone is an important part of our lives. it helps protect us from the suns harmful rays. yet it can also be bad for our breathing and inviorment.

London type smog

London type smog ocures when particles in coal smoke combine with water droplets in humid air. hundred years London was a dirty and dark place because all the coal the people were using plus the humid air was creating smog which is now known as London. now days people in London try to burn less coal and the air there is now looking much cleaner. some consequences are giving people lung diseases, harder to breath in the air,and global warming. so we should try to not pollute so much, and we can save our ozone layer and save peeps from getting diseases.

The Earth, unlike Mercury, has an atmosphere. the Earth's atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% of other substances. since mercury has no atmosphere, there is no weather. also at night it is freezing cold since there isn't an atmosphere to trap the heat, when it is day time on mercury it is blazing hot since it doesn't have the atmosphere to protect it from letting to much heat onto the planet. If you were to walk on mercury, your footprint would be there forever since there would be no wind or rain to wash it away. The atmosphere is what cause earth to have weather. if you were to walk on the ground on earth, then by a few days it would all go away. that is how earth is different from mercury

The Space Program

NASA begun in 1958, they began a mission to mercury to see if people could survive in space. then they started doin apollo missions to send people to the moon. an accident occured in 1970 and they called it apollo 13. that didnt stop the space program though. even today people fly into space to go to the moon or go to a space station

using space science on earth

people belive that money should be spent elswhere instead of for the space program, the space program recieves very little of the u.s buget. Nasa is trying to explain that the space station is used for great knowledge and uses. hopfully they can keep it going

Exploring space today

The ISS has included a small robot called the Personal Satellite Assistance. it is powered by solar cells and can monitor temperature, pressure, and air quality to alert an astrounat to any problem in space. it also comes with a small video phone so the astrounats can cummunicate with eachother.

the science of rockets

New versions of rockets are 58 meters high and usually made up of 3 stages. First stage is the atlas, second stage is the centuar and the third is the payload. Atlas rockets were used to launch people onto the moon but now are used to launch satellites into space.

Seasons are caused by revolution and the earths tilt. the earth revolves around the sun 1 time. this is called a year.during this time, different parts of the earth are getting the suns direct sunlight. this results in season. while the norther hemishper is experiancing summer, the southern is experiancing winter. while southern hemishper is experiancing summer we experiance winter. when its summer, the days are longer. when its winter the days are shorter.

Zoom

The book Zoom, was basically about guessing what the big picture was, or what the picture would turn into. The inferences i made weren't entierly correct, but they somewhat had the same idea. I believe this book deals with perspective because you have to look at the book and all its details to really figure out whats coming. also predicting plays a part in this book, u have to predict to see whats coming.
There has been multiple times when i thought i saw something for what it was, but when i changed my perspective on it i relized i was wrong. Or sometimes my perspective on the worlds economics are right or wrong. usually when someone points out that i have been wrong, it alters my perspective. Or if something in the world change it changes my persective too.
A scientist uses perspective to observe objects every day. they have to look at germs and starts and lots of ther anumals and objects. with perspective they can predict the outcome of things. for example, they look at the sun and the earth and figure how parts of the earth is tilted away from the sun that that pat of the earth is experiancing night time. As Mrs. Caseys 8th grade studies astronomy, it might be a good idea to be aware of perspective because we need it to predict what will happen in the future for the planets or stars.

enigma box

Mrs. Casey put 500 mils of water into the enigma box. the box is black and has 3 holes, 2 on top, 1 bigger than the other, and 1 hole at the bottom of the box. the first few millimeters Mrs. Casey poured in to the box, nothing happened. After about 450 millimeters, the water started to slowly come out of the bottom hole.
i think there is a maze in the box, which causes it to take a while for it to get to the very end of the enigma box and threw the bottom hole and into the cup. that is my prediction.
skills scientist use are, predicting, classifying, observing, inferring, and model. scientist use this daily to observe creatures, plants, and other objects. i found out that there was 1 tube inside the enigma box, mrs casey had to put so much in the box to make the water preasure rise so it could all come out at the bottom. my prediction was close but wasnt exactly right people all over the world use scientist skill every day as a daily part of there lives.
in the end, i found out that my prediction wasnt right and that there was a tube inside the box. i also learned the 5 skills scientist use and that people use them every day of our lives! i also learned a bit about how water preasure works and how the enigma box worked.
